The Hanged Man

The fourth card in my photomanipulation tarot deck.

Traditionally, the Hanged Man is a martyr, gaining enlightenment or spiritual knowledge through self sacrifice, or simply meditation and contemplation. Although he has suffered, he has survived and learned from the experience.

When conceptualizing this card, I couldn't escape the thought of St. Sebastien, the Christian martyr, shot full of arrows. At the same time, a theme of growth kept nagging at me as well as the eternal cycle of life and death...hence the vertical infinity symbol present in the ivy.
